Introduction.Musculoskeletal dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint (MAD TMJ) is a generalizing concept of various musculoskeletal, neuromuscular pathological conditions with damage to the TMJ, masticatory muscles, and their associated structures. MAD TMJ is the second most common chronic disease after chronic low back pain [1] and affects up to 15% of adults, with a peak incidence between the ages of 20 and 40 years. СТОМАТОЛОГІЯ / DENTISTRYConclusions. The analysis of patient complaints and functional analysis of the dentomaxillofacial system at the initial examination enables detection of the cause of the painful form of MAD TMJ and the diagnosis of possible joint disorders. Key symptoms of the painful form of MAD TMJ were identified, and a diagnostic and therapeutic strategy for patient management was justified.
