“…The central question concerning the origin of this soft gamma ray emission is whether it is primarily diffuse or if it is greatly affected by one or more compact sources. There are 2 candidate hard X-ray point sources, the eclipsing LMXB 4U 2129+47 located at l = 91.58 • , b = −3.04 • (Thorstensen et al 1979;Ulmer et al 1980;Garcia 1994) and the X-ray pulsar Cep X-4 at l = 99.08 • , b = 3.78 • (Ulmer et al 1973;Koyama et al 1991). As can be seen from Figure 1 the detectors were more sensitive to both of these sources during viewing period 519.…”

“…4U 2129+47 was discovered in 1972 (Giaconni et al 1972;Gursky et al 1972) and, for a decade, it was seen by every X-ray instrument which pointed at it (e.g., Markert et al 1979;Thorstensen et al 1979;Ulmer et al 1980;Brinkman et al 1980;Warwick et al 1981;Amnuel et al 1982;Wood et al 1984;Garcia 1994). In 1983 EXOSAT failed to detect it (Pietsch et al 1983(Pietsch et al , 1986 adding 4U 2129+47 to the class of quasi-persistent X-ray transients.…”
