Antidepressant amitriptyline is safe, well tolerated and effective treatment for patients suffering from IBS with diarrhoea. It has been shown in adults with IBS to be significantly more effective than placebo in producing global improvement, increasing feelings of well-being and the same good news concern adolescents and children too.
