Of the oral agents, the combination sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim has been reported to be the most effective (46%) by Dohar et al 15 As this drug is a nonpseudomonal antibiotic, we did not test its in vitro effectiveness against Pseudomonas. Hence, of the commonly available ear drops, chloramphenicol and polymyxin B are not effective in CSOM, leaving only ciprofloxacin and gentamicin for routine use.…”
