Thermal analysis, antimicrobial and antioxidant studies of thiosemicarbazone derivatives

Abstract: The aim of the presented research was to evaluate the antimicrobial, anti-tuberculosis and antioxidant activity of thiosemicarbazone derivatives. The thermal stability and thermal degradation of nineteen compounds were determined. The results obtained in in vitro tests indicate the potential of selected compounds against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Some compounds turned out to be active free radical scavengers and at the same time Fe3+ reducing agents. The … Show more

“…These methods have shown their usefulness in our previous studies for the identification of single- and dual-component preparations containing theophylline [ 18 ]. In addition, other authors have demonstrated their usefulness in the pharmaceutical industry for the identification of polymorphic substances [ 19 , 20 ], the influence of ambient relative humidity on vapor sorption [ 21 ], thermal stability [ 22 , 23 ], or compatibility of excipients with API [ 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 ] and API with API [ 28 ], as well as quality control in pharmacies [ 29 , 30 , 31 ].…”

“…The compound with the strongest antituberculosis activity, T69, showed 4 /cm 3 activity against M. tuberculosis H37Rv (Standard Isonicotinic acid hydrazide: 0.125 /cm 3 ). Against other bacterial strains, T57 and T58 exhibited moderate activity with a MIC of 64-128 g/mL [23]. Rusnac and co-workers synthesized a paracetamol-containing thiosemicarbazone (T70) and its five Cu(II) complexes (T71-75) (Figure 9).…”

“…In isatinthiocarbohydrazones, the bending vibrations of ν(C−N) occur within the range of 1199-1173 cm -1 . The long-term stability of biodiesel samples is linked to low oxidation levels [54]. Antioxidants, particularly phenolic chemicals, have been found to enhance peak intensity, according to studies.…”
