“…It can be seen that the general tendency of the curve of the Si-Ta system in this work is consistent with the calculated results of Fig. 2 Enthalpy of mixing of liquid in the Si-Ta system at 2000 K in comparison with that of the V-Si system [13] and Nb-Si system [38] Fig. 4 Calculated Si-W phase diagram in comparison with the experimental data [27][28][29] Fig.…”

[40] When a 0 in Eq 5 was preliminarily obtained from the above data, b 0 was added to describe the liquidus lines.…”

“…In -Nb 5 Si 3 , Si content is higher than the stoichiometry composition. The former researcher reported 13) that there are two assumptions for the excess Si: 1) Si atoms substitute for Nb atoms: (Nb) 4 (NbSi)(Si) 3 ; 2) vacancies in the Nb position: (Nb) 4 (NbVa)(Si) 3 . In Table 2, with Mo addition, the content of Nb does not distinctly change, while Si content decreases close to the content of Si in -Nb 5 Si 3 .…”

“…Recently, it is recognized that the incorporation of a ductile phase into a brittle phase through microstructure control enhances the room temperature ductility or fracture toughness of many ceramics and intermetallics [4,5] . Nb possesses an excellent toughness and high melting point (2472 ℃), moreover, according to Nb-Si binary phase diagram [6] , Nb and Nb 5 Si 3 coexist in a wide range of temperature (room temperature,1770 ℃) and silicon content (0.5%-37.5%, molar ratio). These features of the phase diagram allow us to fabricate Nb/Nb 5 Si 3 in-situ composites with a high degree of thermodynamical and microstructural stability at high temperature.…”
