Three-dimensional (3D) α-Fe2O3/polypyrrole (PPy) nanocomposite for effective electromagnetic absorption

Abstract: The lightweight and 3-dimensional reticulated α-Fe2O3/PPy hybrids were successfully fabricated via a facile one-pot polyreaction. The measured complex permittivity and microwave attenuation performance suggest that the dielectric properties of PPy can be regulated by the mass ratio of added α-Fe2O3. The two dielectric resonance peaks of complex permittivity can be ascribed to the interface capacitor-like structure. An equivalent circuit model was established to explain the nonlinear resonance behavior of the α… Show more

“…In addition, the absence of corresponding diffraction sharp peak for graphite at around 26° suggests the homogeneous dispersion on the surface of the nanoporous Co/C composites [ 38 ]. PPy shows an amorphous structure since the broad XRD pattern is around 20 to 30° ( Figure S1 ) [ 20 ]. Raman spectroscopy is well known as a powerful tool for the characterization of graphite based materials.…”

“…Specifically, the development of functional dielectric materials modified with other composites can represent a significant advance to improve EA performance both in intensity and width. Taking polypyrrole (PPy) as an example, it is a type of the intrinsically conducting polymers which has been investigated as a permittivity regulation for EA materials mainly result from its dielectric property [ 19 , 20 ]. Furthermore, the lightweight of PPy aerogel after drying out the solvent which also matches the feature of high-performance absorbers.…”

“…With large-scale applications of electromagnetic (EM) equipment in various fields, EM interference and EM pollution have become serious issues [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ]. In general, electromagnetic wave absorbing material is a functional material; it can attenuate EM waves effectively, convert EM energy into thermal energy, or make EM waves dissipate through interference [ 2 , 6 , 7 ].…”

“…On the one hand, the chemically inert SiC gives the advantage of its application in harsh environments; on the other hand, it brings the challenge of the modification on the SiC surface at the same time. The decorated metal and metal oxide nanoparticles on SiC were usually separated and random, rather than continuous. Compared with inorganic nanoparticles, polymers are more likely to form a continuous and uniform shell on a chemically inert surface. , Polypyrrole (PPy) has been wildly used to tune the dielectric properties of other materials, such as Fe x O y , TiO 2 , reduced graphene oxide (RGO), polyaniline poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), and SiC. , …”
