“…4,6,17 Graviola products, namely capsules and tinctures, are becoming more widely available in the U.S. market, and now offered under several manufacturers in health food stores. The therapeutic dosage of Graviola leaf was reported to be 2-3 grams, taken 3 or 4 times daily.…”

“…7 We have previously reported that the extract of Graviola fruit had significant activity against selected cancer cell lines, 15 and the active fractions appeared to possess characteristic chemical properties of Annonaceous acetogenins, some compounds were isolated and characterized. 17 To our knowledge, most of the previously-reported natural compounds were isolated from Graviola's leaf and stem, bark, and seeds. Little attention has been paid to bioactive anti-cancer compounds contained in the edible Graviola fruit.…”

“…Through the careful comparison of the 1 H and 13 C NMR data with a series of bullatacintype compounds (Sahai et al, 1994b), the relative stereochemistry from C-17 to C-26 of 3 was found to be threo/trans/threo/trans/ erythro. The absolute configurations of C-4 and C-36 in compounds 1-3 are assumed to be R and S, respectively, because all previous acetogenin compounds discovered to date had the R configuration at C-4 and the S configuration at C-36 (Alali et al, 1999a;Liaw et al, 2003;Sun et al, 2014;Zhou et al, 2000).…”

“…The interactions among acetogenins in Graviola (Annona muricata) leaves and flavonoids synergistically confer protection against prostate cancer [27]. Three new ACGs with mono-tetrahydrofuran rings from graviola fruit (Annona muricata) demonstrate cell growth inhibition in human prostate cancer PC-3 cells [28] in a similar manner. In the current study, MTS assay and flowcytometry analysis show that ACGs inhibited cell growth and induce apoptosis in time and dose –dependent manner.…”
