TIG Arc Welding - Brazing of Dissimilar Metals - An Overview

Abstract: Tungsten inert gas (TIG) arc welding–brazing has been recently developed and is being increasingly implemented in various industrial applications. Nowadays, this process gains much attention in joining of dissimilar metal combinations. This review paper explains the principles underlying TIG arc welding – brazing of dissimilar metal combinations and highlights the above benefits in a number of practical applications. The process mechanism of TIG brazing is different from the conventional welding processes and … Show more

“…The friction stir welding (FSW) process produces key hole defects during the welding process, whereas the spot welding (SW) process produces pores and solidification cracks during the welding process [4,5]. Along with the FSW, other processes are also made to develop dissimilar welds using multi-materials [6][7][8][9][10]. The challenges, interface characteristics, and intermetallic formation of the joints are studied in detail [11][12][13][14][15][16].…”

“…Additionally, in wire arc additive manufacturing, it may affect the resolution by inducing the flow of metal [14], unlike the power ratio used to control hot cracking and dilution in the nuclear power plants. Therefore, H R is considered to be a better parameter for setting the welding conditions due to considering the welding speed and deposition area [18][19][20][21].…”
