The operations involved in building a structure interact and depend on one another. The model is developed using an Apriori-based swarm intelligence method, with the non-dominated solutions to the separation of elephant herding optimization technique as the swarm intelligence method. Also, population initialization, selection, and fitness evaluation for input parameters are used. This strategy optimizes construction time, cost, & environmental effects in an actual construction project. Compared to the original simulation-optimization integration, the suggested machine learning-based solution dramatically reduces computing time. A case study of a building construction project has been employed to show the usability of the proposed method. Similarly, the usefulness of the proposed AEHO model in optimal design is demonstrated by measuring many performance measures and a comparison with an already existing PSO optimization model. In addition, a coefficient value plot is established for visualizing the provided objectives, and an apriori method is presented for selecting one solution from the Pareto-optimal front that has been generated. This study intends to minimize time and cost for construction projects that include repetitive project activities by using the learning curve phenomenon, which reduces time and cost savings when considering the project's start and finish dates.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been widely adopted in the building sector. However, it is still an emerging topic in road infrastructure projects despite its enormous potential to solve ongoing issues. While there have been several recent studies on BIM implementation in road projects, there is a lack of research analyzing the actual BIM Uses in road projects as reported in academic and technical documents. Considering this gap, this paper presents a systematic review of BIM Uses and complementary technologies to BIM in road infrastructure projects. The research method consisted of a systematic review composed of five stages: (1) question formulation, (2) searching of relevant documents, (3) document selection, (4) evidence collection, analysis, and synthesis, and (5) results report. A total of 384 documents were collected, from which 134 documents reporting BIM Uses on roads were analyzed. This study has two main contributions. First, 39 BIM Uses were identified, which are classified into nine categories: road design, traffic analysis, soil aspects, road safety, environmental issues, other engineering analysis, construction planning and analysis, cost analysis, and construction monitoring and control. Second, a set of 26 technologies complementary to BIM adoption in roads were identified, among the most prevalent of which are geographic information systems (GISs) and laser scanning. The results serve as a basis for researchers to learn about the status and propose future developments on BIM adoption in road infrastructure.

PurposeThis study aims to develop a comprehensive conceptual framework that serves as a foundation for identifying most critical delay risk drivers for Building Information Modelling (BIM)-based construction projects.Design/methodology/approachA systematic review was conducted using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) to identify key delay risk drivers in BIM-based construction projects that have significant impact on the performance of delay risk predictive modelling techniques.FindingsThe results show that contractor related driver and external related driver are the most important delay driver categories to be considered when developing delay risk predictive models for BIM-based construction projects.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the body of knowledge by filling the gap in lack of a conceptual framework for selecting key delay risk drivers for BIM-based construction projects, which has hampered scientific progress toward development of extremely effective delay risk predictive models for BIM-based construction projects. Furthermore, this study's analyses further confirmed a positive effect of BIM on construction project delay.
