Both time perspectives and impulsivity dimensions are groups of traits that are connected to self-control abilities and might be important for coping styles. However, to date, no study has systematically investigated their utility in predicting coping styles with regard to their multidimensional nature. The current study was correlational and exploratory, aiming to discover what amount of variance in each of the three coping styles, problem-oriented, active emotion-oriented, and avoidant, is accounted for by two groups of predictors: time perspectives and impulsivity dimensions. N = 397 young adults aged 18–35 from the general population took part in the study. Results of a multiple linear regression testing both groups of predictors separately and of hierarchical regression analysis introducing the two predictor groups in subsequent steps suggested that time perspectives accounted for more variance in adaptive coping styles: problem-oriented and active emotion-oriented coping. For avoidant coping, both time perspectives and impulsivity dimensions accounted for a similar amount of variance. The results provide evidence that time perspectives should be investigated in domains related to coping (e.g., mental health issues, substance abuse, and risk-taking behaviors), for which impulsivity has been considered an important predictor. Moreover, impulsivity ought to be tested with regard to its multidimensionality.

This paper describes the current state of the problem of time perspectives and the phenomenon of procrastination in professional activities. The paper is primarily focused on special aspects of time perspectives and procrastination of employees with different job titles. The paper contains an empirical study of the interrelation of time perspective and procrastination of employees with different job titles. The results show that top managers usually focus highly on future time perspectives (59.03) and the positive past (36.06). Their level of procrastination is lower (53.45). Groups of middle managers show high procrastination (57.2); they focus on hedonist present (24.6) and the negative past (31.26). The article proves a statistically significant level of distinctions of procrastination expressiveness on the entire sample (1211 atp < .01). A connection between life-purpose orientation and time representation was established: the most effective lifepurpose orientations for top management were 'life goals' (35.28), 'locus control-life' (32.7) and 'sense of purpose of life' (155.25); in the middle management group these facts are faintly expressed. Correlation analysis using the Spearman's Rho allowed us to highlight a high level of procrastination in the middle management group determined by their orientation on time perspective of negative past against low focus on the future that complicates the success of professional activities. The regression analysis revealed the main predictors of procrastination in the groups of top managers (aims in life, process of life and locus control-ego) and middle managers (Fatalistic present and future). It may be assumed that personal time perspective and its time orientation are interconnected with procrastination processes and can be considered both negative and positive consequences that aligns with the results of the latest research examining procrastination in professional activities.

<p>The article is aims to clarify the features of relationship between volitional regulation and procrastination. The results of an empirical study obtained on a student sample are presented. The study involved 1-4 years university students of Lomonosov Moscow State University (N=304) from sociology, chemistry and mechanics and mathematics faculties (average age 19.58 years old, st. dev. 1.57). The following techniques were used: the formalized self-rating technique of V.A. Ivannikov, E.V. Aidman, "Action Control Scale" by J. Kuhl in adaptation of S.А. Shapkin, Purpose in life test of Crumbaugh and Maholick in adaptation of D.A. Leontiev and General procrastination scale (C. Lay) in adaptation of O.S. Vindecker and M.V. Ostanina. The results show that students with more developed volitional regulation are less prone to procrastination. There were no significant differences in the indicators of volitional regulation and procrastination between students of different courses and faculties.</p>
