Bandar Lampung City’s coastal area is highly susceptible to coastal hazards due to its location within the subduction zone of the Indo-Australian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Additionally, the presence of the Anak Krakatau volcano in the Sunda Strait further increases the vulnerability of the city’s coast to natural disasters. This study analyses the current social vulnerability in the coastal area of Bandar Lampung City. The aim is to provide a starting point for disaster management and policy planning in the city. To determine the level of social vulnerability in the coastal area of Bandar Lampung City, social vulnerability mapping is conducted by overlaying four indices: population, population density, sex ratio, and dependency ratio. The data indicates that there is significant variation in the level of social vulnerability among the coastal areas of Bandar Lampung City. Specifically, 8 out of 25 villages in the coastal area of Bandar Lampung City exhibit high levels of social vulnerability. The villages of Bumi Waras, Pesawahan, and Keteguhan have the highest levels of social vulnerability in the coastal area of Bandar Lampung City. As revealed by this study, the indicators of population size and dependency ratio have the most significant impact on the level of social vulnerability. These findings are expected to provide valuable input to stakeholders in their efforts to reduce social vulnerability in coastal areas.

Pada tahun 2021, tercatat masih terdapat 9.127 rumah tangga/kepala keluarga yang melakukan buang air besar sembarangan (BABS) di permukiman kumuh Kota Surabaya. Jumlah ini paling banyak terdapat di Surabaya utara, terutama Kecamatan Semampir dengan jumlah tertinggi sebanyak 1.243 KK. Penelitian ini bertujuan menginvetarisasi infrastruktur sanitasi yang belum sesuai standar di Kecamatan Semampir; mengeksplorasi faktor-faktor penyebab perilaku BABS di kawasan permukiman Kecamatan Semampir; dan merumuskan strategi penanganan perilaku BABS melalui penyediaan sanitasi sehat di permukiman Kecamatan Semampir. Teknik wawancara dilakukan dengan beberapa responden yakni dinas dan pemangku kepentingan lain terkait. Disebarkan juga kuesioner yang memuat aspek sosial dan ekonomi, peran serta masyarakat, aspek teknologi, aspek tata kelola, aspek hukum kepada masyarakat setempat sebagai responden. Selanjutnya, identifikasi faktor-faktor penyebab perilaku BABS di kawasan permukiman Kecamatan Semampir dilakukan dengan analisis SWOT. Setelahnya, dilakukan perumusan konsep penanganan perilaku BABS di Kecamatan Semampir dengan analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan teknik triangulasi, dengan penggunaan data yang terkait permasalahan sanitasi permukiman di wilayah penelitian, kriteria dan prinsip program jamban sehat dan stop BABS, best practice (dalam dan luar negeri), serta kebijakan yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan penyediaan sanitasi di Kota Surabaya. Strategi yang didapat hasil analisis SWOT bersifat komprehensif mulai dari penyediaan basis data terkait BABS, pemberian bantuan jamban sehat dan sosialisasi sanitasi, hingga penguatan hukum dan kelembagaan yang menangani sanitasi. Selain itu, disediakan pula ilustrasi 3D tangki septik beserta denah tangki septik sebagai bagian suatu kesatuan sistem.

Climate change is a topic of discussion in various parts of the world. Several coastal cities in Indonesia are currently also threatened by the impacts of climate change. From several studies, it is known that the threat of climate change is considered capable of increasing community resilience in informal areas. This study aims to identify the application of the principle of verification of positivism and its implications as an analysis of the philosophy of science in the study of climate change impacts on the resilience of informal areas. The analytical technique used is descriptive evaluative by using several literature reviews and theories. From the results of the study, it was found that research related to climate change and resilience of informal areas is an empirical, logical, and measurable research as well as part of a deductive research and reflects that the theme of this research is a part of science.
