Tingkat serangan ulat grayak tentara Spodoptera frugiperda J. E. Smith (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) pada pertanaman jagung di Kabupaten Tuban, Jawa Timur, Indonesia

Abstract: Spodoptera frugiperda or fall army worm (FAW) is new pest of maize in Indonesia. The study of this pest is still limited. This study aims to determine attack rate and intensity of S. frugiperda on maize in Tuban Regency. Sampling was done by using the Scouting method recommended by Balitsereal, Maros. The research was conducted in 7 sub-districts in Tuban, East Java. Based on the results of the research, it was shown that all the observation locations on the corn field were found S. frugiperda attacks. The per… Show more

“…The percentage of S. frugiperda pest attacks is influenced by the age of the plant, pest attacks will continue to decrease when plants enter the generative phase because plants are stronger, although attacked during the vegetative phase plants can recover with good maintenance treatments such as fertilization and tillage [27].…”

“…Based on data IOP Publishing doi:10.1088/1755-1315/1208/1/012003 2 obtained by the Indonesian Forecasting Center for Plant Pest Organisms (BBPOPT) in 2021, the cumulative area of fall armyworm attacks in Indonesia reached 64,930 Ha out of 85,426 Ha of corn fields. The intensity of fall armyworm attacks in various parts of Indonesia, such as in Garut and Tasikmalaya (West Java), ranged from 34.78 to 52.78% [2] and in Tuban Regency (East Java) around 55% [3]. Fall armyworm was reported to cause severe damage in the East Flores corn crop (85-100%) [4].…”

“…Spodoptera frugiperda was first detected attacking corn farms in Pasaman, West Sumatra, Indonesia [1]. After its first reported entry into Indonesia, S. frugiperda attacks started to be reported in several other regions, such as Java [2][3][4][5][6][7] and eastern Indonesia [8], [9]. Since attacks have been reported in almost all areas, it can be suspected that S. frugiperda may have long been developed in Indonesia, but this is not explicitly known [10].…”
