The main purpose of this paper is to describe English loanwords in Indonesian. The study covers English loanwords from the process of adaptation and adoption. The data had been collected from some literations and the former researches. Adaptation occurs in the rules of the Indonesian language i.e. spelling rules, word structure, pronunciation, and sentence structure. Meawhile, Adoption is to pick up English words as Indonesian words original patterns. Through the methods, ILLs may easily learn indonesian language both writing and speaking. Spelling and Pronunciation adaptions consist of 275 words and Spelling adaptions without Pronunciation adaptions of 78 worrds. It means at most 353 words through adapation. In addition, English adaptation also occur in Indonesian language. It occurs by taking the same meaning, spelling, pronunciation of 42 words and while the other by the same meaning, spelling, different pronunciation is of 32 words.

Penulisan kata serapan bergugus konsonan dalam bahasa Indonesia sudah lama menjadi masalah. Sebagian kata tersebut ada yang ditulis dengan mempertahankan gabungan huruf yang mewakili gugus konsonan dalam bahasa asalnya, sebagian yang lain ditulis dengan menambahkan huruf <e> di antara gabungan huruf tersebut. Melalui kajian terhadap sampel kata serapan yang ditulis dengan gabungan huruf <br>, <kr>, dan <tr> yang mewakili gugus konsonan, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan inkonsistensi ejaan bergugus konsonan dalam Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI), menunjukkan ketidaksamaan ejaan dalam KBBI dengan ejaan yang digunakan masyarakat melalui korpus berita daring Leipzig Corpora Collection, serta menawarkan kemungkinan pemecahan masalah tersebut. Sumber data penelitian ini berasal dari KBBI dan sekumpulan daftar kata serapan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan campuran dengan teknik simak catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam KBBI, pembakuan kata serapan menerapkan dua strategi, yakni mempertahankan gabungan huruf <br>, <kr>, dan <tr> atau menambahkan huruf <e> di antara gabungan huruf tersebut. Kedua strategi tersebut bahkan dapat diaplikasikan dalam satu gabungan huruf. Dalam korpus, kedua strategi pembakuan tersebut masih berlaku, namun masyarakat tampak memiliki kaidah tersendiri dalam menuliskan kata serapan. Dengan kata lain, yang seharusnya ditulis dengan penambahan huruf, justru ditulis tanpa penambahan huruf, dan juga sebaliknya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini mengusulkan bahwa kedua strategi pembakuan tersebut dapat tetap diaplikasikan, namun perlu mengakomodasi frekuensi dan pola-pola penyerapan ejaan yang lebih banyak digunakan oleh masyarakat.

The research was conducted because of the widespread use of slang among the Indonesian population, especially millennial youth. This study also aims to examine millennial youth slang based on its form, source and pattern of formation, purpose and context of use. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative, namely examining language data in the form of the use of slang by millennial youth and interpreting it. Sources of research data are interview results and social media, namely Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, which contain teenage slang. Data collection techniques were documented, observed and recorded, as well as interviews with fifteen young people who used slang in communicating. The data analysis technique in this study is content analysis. The results of the study show that the use of slang by millennial youth originates from regional languages, Indonesian, foreign languages, as well as a combination of Indonesian and foreign languages. The pattern of forming slang from abbreviations, shortening of words, acronyms, reversal of words, spoofed words and shifts in meaning. The expression of the use of slang among millennial youth on social media and its impact on the extension of Indonesian in society makes a big change in the world of language, this is because teenagers are contaminated by foreign languages so this has an impact on the extension of society. Regarding this problem so that ordinary people feel accustomed to and contaminated with the slang that is widely used by millennial youth at this time, this will affect the resilience of the Indonesian national language which is the identity of the country, so that the impact begins to fade the use of good Indonesian and true because it has been contaminated with the influence of foreign languages.
