Tire-Pressure Identification Using Intelligent Tire with Three-Axis Accelerometer

Abstract: An intelligent tire uses sensors to dynamically acquire or monitor its state. It plays a critical role in safety and maneuverability. Tire pressure is one of the most important status parameters of a tire; it influences vehicle performance in several important ways. In this paper, we propose a tire-pressure identification scheme using an intelligent tire with 3-axis accelerometers. As the primary sensing system, the accelerometers can continuously and accurately detect tire pressure with less electronic equipm… Show more

“…Moreover, the effective rolling radius reduced greatly as the vehicle speed increases at same tire pressure [11]. This situation was also seen in frequency domain and it was explored that the increases in vehicle speed vary the peak amplitude of rolling radius [12]. These results show that the vehicle speed changes cause the fluctuations in effective International Journal of Automotive Engineering and Technologies, IJAET 9 (3) 130-137 132 rolling radius and wheel speed as shown in Eq.…”

“…Ten blades (4) are fulcrumed around the pivots (8), which are fastened to the support tube (1). A control disc (2) is also fulcrumed and secured from axial movement by means of two opposite stop bars (3). Removing one or two safety bolts (9) and turning the control disc (2), the pins (5) move the blades (4) to the protruded (Figure 3b) or base position (Figure 3a).…”

“…Present-day micromechanical accelerometers are widely used in different types of transport and electronic means from aerospace, water and auto transport systems to mobile phones and new generation video game consoles [1][2][3][4][5][6]. There are many kinds of transducers in present micromechanical accelerometers, such as capacitive, piezo-resistive, electromagnetic, optical, thermal convective, acoustic waves resonant, field emission, tunnel transducers and so on [6].…”
