Titanium Carbide: Synthesis, Properties and Applications

Abstract: Composite materials are known in various forms. The two distinctive constituents of these composite materials are the matrix material and the reinforcement material. A variety of materials are used as reinforcing material in composites titanium carbide (TiC). TiC acquired considerable attention because of its unique properties, which make it very attractive for advanced applications. The current review summarizes various synthesis techniques to produce TiC nanocomposite and highlights the major industrial appl… Show more

“…In another case, the general requirement for FW material is low neutronic absorption of cross-section, so light materials tend to lead to a low neutron absorption in high incident energy by (n, c) reaction cross-section, as seen in Figure 4. Hydrogen gas produced of (n, p) reaction [33] will be as high as (n, p) cross-section reaction in nuclides. It is similar to the α-particle that can produce helium gas bubbles [34].…”

“…The most studied methods of titanium carbide nanopowders production are chemical vapor deposition, self-propagating high-temperature synthesis with laser ignition, sol-gel method, selfpropagating high-temperature synthesis, etc. [12][13][14][15][16]. All these methods are characterized by very low productivity and rather high cost of the final product.…”

“…Due to its exceptional qualities, including high hardness, high chemical stability, high melting point, strong resistance to abrasion, etc., titanium carbide (TiC) is a promising material that is frequently used for cutting tools [1]. In addition, TiC is employed in optics, electronics, and other fields.…”
