Towards Business-to-IT Alignment in the Cloud

Abstract: Cloud computing offers a great opportunity for business process (BP) flexibility, adaptability and reduced costs. This leads to realising the notion of business process as a service (BPaaS), i.e., BPs offered on-demand in the cloud. This paper introduces a novel architecture focusing on BPaaS design that includes the integration of existing state-ofthe-art components as well as new ones which take the form of a business and a syntactic matchmaker. The end result is an environment enabling to transform domain-s… Show more

“…The Agile and Ontology-Aided Modeling Environment (AOAME) was conceived through the design science research (DSR) approach [25], which provided guidance throughout the construction of the artifact. In particular, the awareness of problem was initially raised by use cases and lessons learned from three research projects targeting three different domains: (1) a patient discharging process among sites of care within the health-care sector [11,26]; (2) business process requirements and cloud service specification for the Business-IT matchmaking in the Cloud [27,28]; (3) workplace learning in public administrations [29]. Each project presented a model-driven solution and domain-specific adaptation activities were performed adopting current engineering life-cycles.…”

“…Application of recommender systems has been discussed for more specific consultancy tasks such as optimisation of product assortments [31], selection of cloud or web services [35,18,34] or adaptation of conditions in agriculture [19]. In all these cases, the set of possible items that can be recommended is known and well-defined and the task consists in selecting and possibly orchestrating the items.…”

“…The adaptation of a modeling language can be done by applying a set of operators on the Language Ontology. In order to determine an initial set of operators, we build on lessons learned from the work of recent research projects, Patient-Radar [6,26] and CloudSocket 5 [27,28]. Thus, the following set of operators were derived to be performed on the Language Ontology, which implies a theoretical foundation based on ontology formalism.…”
