Transcriptional Profiling of Sorghum Induced by Methyl Jasmonate, Salicylic Acid, and Aminocyclopropane Carboxylic Acid Reveals Cooperative Regulation and Novel Gene Responses

Abstract: We have conducted a large-scale study of gene expression in the C4 monocot sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) L. Moench cv BTx623 in response to the signaling compounds salicylic acid (SA), methyl jasmonate (MeJA), and the ethylene precursor aminocyclopropane carboxylic acid. Expression profiles were generated from seedling root and shoot tissue at 3 and 27 h, using a microarray containing 12,982 nonredundant elements. Data from 102 slides and quantitative reverse transcription-PCR data on mRNA abundance from 171 genes… Show more

“…We therefore conclude that JA and SA can both induce LeGGPS1 and that basic levels of SA are essential for the induction of LeGGPS1. Other examples of genes that are induced by JA-and SA-treatment have been described for sorghum (Salzman et al 2005). Induction of several genes from Arabidopsis is also dependent on both JA-and SA-signaling pathways (Glazebrook et al 2003).…”

“…The effect of SA and MeJA on gene expression has been analyzed in several small-and large-scale microarray studies in Arabidopsis and Sorghum bicolor (Schenk et al, 2000;Salzman et al, 2005). In addition, global expression phenotyping of signaling-defective mutants of the SA and JA pathways has been exploited to investigate the network of regulatory interactions among different defense signaling pathways (Glazebrook et al, 2003).…”

“…No. ВМ 318308), описано у Sorghum bicolor [22], але негативна регуляція цими стресовими гормонами експресії гена LTP у рослин нами виявлена вперше. Вва-жається, що регуляція експресії мультигенної родини генів LTP у голонасінних від-різняється від такої у покритонасінних [15].…”
