Benign intracavitary cardiac tumors lead to "malignant" complications, so early diagnosis and adequate treatment are of vital importance. Our investigation summarizes a 10-year experience after surgical treatment of 29 patients suffering from benign intracavitary cardiac tumors. The postoperative histological examination revealed a myxoma in 27 cases; in 2 cases a papillary fibroelastoma was diagnosed. The main symptom in 19 patients was dyspnea. In 8 cases an embolic event occurred. All patients underwent extirpation of the tumor. Early mortality was 10%, while late mortality was 4%. The treatment of choice of benign intracavitary cardiac tumors is extirpation, which, due to unpredictable embolic complications, is to be carried out immediately should the tumor have a lobulated tuberous surface. In such cases the descriptive function of echocardiography is of considerable importance.

Infective endocarditis is a serious but relatively rare infection that is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. Aspergillus endocarditis is an uncommon entity and invasive cardiac aspergillosis is a severe and extremely life threatening disease. Prolonged use of intravascular catheters, anatomical cardiac conditions, exposure to multiple broad-spectrum antibiotics, intravenous drug abuse, and previous history of surgery are the most common risk factors of fungemia and fungal endocarditis. Diagnosis is based on the isolation of etiologic agents from cardiac and blood samples or specimens from other sterile sites or positive histopathological findings of pathologic specimens. Echocardiographic findings of endocardial involvement can lead to diagnosis. Echocardiographically, differencial diagnosis of tumor extensions, especially myxoma, atipically located bacterial vegetations, thrombus or fungal masses is very difficult as thrombi and infective verrus can mimic myxomas. Treatment of fungal endocarditis only with antifungal agents is generally unsuccessful and additional surgical intervention is usually required. In this case report we present an fungal endocarditis caused by Aspergillus species that mimicked an atrial myxoma echocardiographically in a patient who had a history of treatment with wide spectrum antibiotics for a long time. We suggest that patients who had broad spectrum antibiotic treatment for a long time should be scanned for fungal infections and if intracardiac mass is determined, fungal endocarditis should be considered in differential diagnosis. U nhày tim là loại u tim thường gặp nhất, đa số các trường hợp u nằm tại tâm nhĩ. U nhày tâm thất rất hiếm gặp. Chúng tôi trình bày một trường hợp u nhày tâm thất phải được chuẩn đoán và điều trị phẫu thuật thành công tại bệnh viện Thống Nhất. Bệnh nhân nữ 47 tuổi nhập viện vì mệt khó thở. Siêu âm tim qua thành ngực phát hiện u trong buồng tống thất phải điều trị lên xuống động mạch phổi. Bệnh nhân được phẫu thuật lấy u qua đường mở động mạch phổi và đường mở nhĩ phải với tuần hoàn ngoài cơ thể. Khối u có cuống xuất phát từ cột cơ lá van ngoài van ba lá và thành trước thất phải. Hậu phẫu ổn định, xuất viện sau 10 ngày. Kết quả giải phẫu bệnh khối u là myxoma lành tính. Theo dõi 5 năm chưa thấy dấu hiệu tái phát
