Transformation synthesis of aluminosilicate SSZ-39 zeolite from ZSM-5 and beta zeolite

Abstract: Aluminosilicate SSZ-39 zeolite has been prepared by transformation from ZSM-5 and beta zeolite in the presence of N,N-diethyl-cis-2,6-dimethylpiperidinium hydroxide.

“…[1][2][3][4][5] Compared to other zeolites with a larger pore size, small-pore zeolites can stabilize nano-sized noble metal species to show comparably high stability, which is crucial for catalytic reactions under realistic conditions. 3,[6][7][8] Particularly, applications of Pd-impregnated small-pore zeolite catalysts for aer-treatment and hydrogen generation have been successfully demonstrated. 3,6,7 In these cases, various Pd phases such as isolated Pd 2+ ions, Pd, and PdO can exist in the zeolite, all of which show different catalytic activities depending on the reaction.…”

[3][4][5]7,9 For example, isolated Pd 2+ ions are active for passive NO x adsorbers (PNAs), 5,9 while most catalytic reactions including catalytic combustion of CH 4 require highly dispersed Pd or PdO nanoparticles for high catalytic activity.…”

“…The initial Na-zeolites (AEI, CHA, and RTH) were synthesized according to the previous literature [17][18][19]. After calcination, the Na-zeolites were ion-exchanged twice with NH 4 NO 3 solution (0.1 M) at 80 ℃ for 5 h to obtain NH 4 -zeolites.…”

“…Moreover, given that SSZ-39 has traditionally been synthesized through interzeolite transformation from high-silica Y, of which the preparation is expensive and requires complex post-treatments, Xu et al. successfully synthesized SSZ-39 through interzeolite transformation from low-cost and widely used ZSM-5 and beta zeolites [ 103 ]. In summary, Cu-SSZ-39 zeolite exhibits strong potential as an NH 3 -SCR catalyst for actual application due to its optimal deNO x efficiency and outstanding hydrothermal stability.…”
