This paper presents an improved substrate integrated non-radiative dielectric (SINRD) bandpass filter design. The LSE 01 (Longitudinal Section Electric) mode is used as fundamental mode, which allows substrate height reduction compared to classical lowest LSM (Longitudinal Section Magnetic mode). A new modelization is proposed to characterize such a bandpass filter using the circuits equivalent method. Simulation results are successfully compared to finite element software results. In the design, permittivity choices are justified through a sensitivity analysis to meet the bandpass filter requirements. Finally, the SINRD bandpass filter is synthesized by drilling an air hole pattern in the dielectric substrate. This new filter is characterized by simulations and measurements.
