Transmission Quality Measurements in DAB+ Broadcast System

Abstract: In the age of digital media, delivering broadcast content to customers at an acceptable level of quality is one of the most challenging tasks. The most important factor is the efficient use of available resources, including bandwidth. An appropriate way of managing the digital multiplex is essential for both the economic and technical issues. In this paper we describe transmission quality measurements in the DAB+ broadcast system. We provide a methodology for analysing parameters and factors related with the e… Show more

“…At that time, the multiplex offered 12 services, among which 10 included audio programs (transmitting speech and/or music signals), whereas two were only data services. Additional information on transmission, frame structure, error correction coding, and related signal measurements in the DAB+ radio system may be found in [42,43]. As shown, the bitrate did change when it comes to some programs.…”

“…Each modification in the broadcast chain, from content creation to a particular hardware setup on the end user side may introduce some unexpected issues to the transferred audio signal. Also, numerous factors of propagation channels and digital standards can affect broadcast signals [1]. The traditional method of validating the quality of a real audio content is to perform subjective listening tests.…”
