“…However, there is only limited empirical evidence that transparency does indeed enhance credibility and accountability. In an experimental study, Meier and Reimer (2011) were able to show that transparency has some effect on trust. Another study indicated that the various practices of disclosure transparency have almost no effect on credibility (Karlsson, Clerwall, & Nord, 2014).…”

Theoretisch ist Vertrauen aber als langfristige, stabile Einstellung konzipiert, die sich durch einen einmaligen experimentellen Stimulus kaum verändern sollte (Tsfati & Cappella, 2003, S. 507).…”

“…McBride and Rosenstiel (2014) suggest that transparency in journalism should primarily refer to 'how the journalism is produced -not necessarily who produces it' (p. 4), though the worldview, experience and value system of an individual producer of a manuscript may not be easily ignored. In particular, transparency has been linked to enhanced trust (Meier and Reimer, 2011), credibility (Kovach and Rosenstiel, 2007) and authenticity (Bowen, 2010) in communication. Ghostwriting undermines all these aspects, as it prevents audiences from learning the identity of a message creator in order to gauge possible intentions.…”
