Voluntary simplicity (VS) is a lifestyle focused on seeking a simple life by reducing consumption and other practices. This systematic literature review aims to analyse and critically discuss the state of the art of VS. This review provides a categorization scheme of VS and analyses: the number of studies and year of publication; journals, number of citations and research areas; study location; VS definitions; types of studies; and research methods. By providing a map of existing research, the paper contributes to the clarification of the VS construct and to the assessment, synthesis and identification of research gaps, and opportunities for further research. VS implications for theory, practice and policy are discussed within the context of consumption/ anti-consumption.

Os mercados de atividade entre pares estão em crescimento nos serviços de turismo e viagens. O objetivo deste artigo foi desenvolver uma abordagem de pesquisa para estudos futuros que possuam a economia compartilhada como objeto de investigação no contexto do turismo. Realizou-se um levantamento bibliográfico em artigos publicados nos periódicos Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research e Annals of Tourism Research, classificando-se cada artigo de acordo com o modelo das três dicotomias proposto por Hunt (2010) por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo. Os resultados métricos mostram que a economia compartilhada é tratada como fenômeno lucrativo (88%), micro (65%) e positivo (82%). Além disso, o estudo apresenta os cinco principais clusters de temas: a) reputação, b) comportamento, c) autenticidade, d) confiança e e) valor. O estudo contribui com pesquisadores, tornando mais clara a compreensão do atual estado da arte em periódicos relevantes e sugerindo uma agenda de pesquisa para direcionar estudos futuros.

The main motivation for the emergence of the study was to update the article, written years ago under a similar title, and to re-evaluate the changing geography, tourism and cultural relations. Why and how do geography, tourism and cultural relations change conceptually and practically? What are the reflections of these changes on space and people? What is the role of tourism geography in the analysis of geography-tourism-culture-heritage-the context of cultural tourism, social changes, Covid-19 pandemic, emerging technologies, national and transnational preservation and planning approaches? The study, starting with these questions, has been tried to be created by considering the current approaches of geography and tourism.The changes experienced by the phenomenon of geography and tourism in different periods, their relations with culture, and spatial interactions have been analysed with an analytical method in the study. In the light of national and international tourism geography literature, thematic review including qualitative and interpretative analysis was used in the study. The study aims to draw attention to new approaches in cultural tourism by looking at changing needs and diversifying research issues from the perspective of tourism geography instead of solving the conceptual expansions and problems of geography, culture, cultural heritage and cultural tourism.Tourism geography constitutes an important context in the change of geography, tourism, culture, cultural tourism relations at the international level and in the development of the new cultural tourism. Differences in terms of conceptual and practical in cultural tourism, changing geography-tourism-culture relations and limitations in the number and quality of international publications are among the striking findings of the study.
