“…The mean time to achieve the first negative skin scrapings of seven weeks was similar for both treatment groups. This concurs with previous studies that report a mean time to remission of 7.1 and eight weeks, using weekly subcutaneous doramectin injections and a mean time to remission of 7.8 weeks using oral administration for cases of localized demodicosis . In contrast, a longer time to remission of 11.4 weeks of treatment was reported in one study with the administration of doramectin p.o.…”

“…Veterinarians frequently have prescribed off‐label treatments for demodicosis, given the poor safety profile of amitraz and labour‐intensive nature of the treatment . These off‐label medications include ivermectin, doramectin, milbemycin oxime and moxidectin . Although these compounds are relatively safe, toxicity is still possible, particularly with the avermectins .…”

“…It has been used weekly in dogs with demodicosis and administered either orally or subcutaneously (0.6 mg/kg) (Murayama 2010, Hutt and others 2015). The weekly use of doramectin has been reported to be as effective as daily oral ivermectin and has the advantage of less frequent administration.…”
