“…Content analyses of organic chemistry textbooks have been performed to determine common patterns and assess discrepancies for topics such as acid–base properties of pyridine and pyrrole, cyclohexane conformations, electrostatic potential maps, Wohler’s synthesis of urea, molecular representations, and industrial applications of organic chemistry . Two papers examined the sequence of topics in organic chemistry textbooks, , paying special attention to the textbook treatment of compounds containing carbonyl groups.…”

“…The studies in this category investigated a wide variety of chemistry topics: bonding, ,,,,,, nature of science, ,,,, redox and electrochemistry, ,, gas laws, , models, , kinetics, , substance and matter, , energy, , delocalization and resonance, 1 H NMR spectroscopy, protein synthesis, carbonyl chemistry, thermodynamics, acid–base chemistry, physical and chemical change, electrolysis, heat, gene function, Millikan’s oil drop experiment, practical work and laboratory procedures, air quality, industrial organic chemistry, and green chemistry . Almost half of these studies analyzed exclusively secondary chemistry textbooks, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and a substantial number of studies analyzed general ,,,,,,, or organic chemistry textbooks. ,,,, The remaining studies compared different chemistry textbooks: secondary and general chemistry textbooks, ,, secondary chemistry and biology textbooks, ,, secondary science, general chemistry, and physical chemistry textbooks, and two studies compared textbooks for more than three subjects.…”

“…To our knowledge, this is the first literature review of the research on chemistry textbooks, which is why we did not exclude any studies based on their date of publication. Therefore, our review spans 40 years of research and includes articles from 1981 (the oldest article we identified) through 2021.…”

“…Although the distinction between jus ad bellum and jus in bello appeared in the writings of Grotius, 16 Vitoria and Vattel, 17 it was Kant who first, in the nineteenth century, explicitly distinguished between '(1) the Right of going to War; [and] (2) Right during War'. 18 This distinction coincided with the rise of the modern nation-state, and the pre-eminence of the notion of raison d'état; war came to be seen as a neutral, de facto situation, such that the cause of war was no longer relevant.…”
