Abstract

Tris(diethy1amino)cyclotriborane and Constitutional Isomerism Between cyclo-and closo-Hexakis(diethylamino)hexaborane(6)The reaction of EtzNBClz with potassium in boiling cyclohex-crystallization. On standing in solution at room temperature, ane provides a mixture of aminopolyboranes, containing the cyclo-isomer 3 slowly rearranges to the closo-isomer 4, 20-25 mol-% (BNEt& (l), (BNEt& (2), and cyclo-(BNEt& (3), while at elevated temperatures the reverse conversion occurs. respectively, as well as varying amounts of closo-(BNEt& (4). Hence 4, which is the first neutral B6 compound with octaWhereas l and 3 have been highly enriched by means of hedral structure, has a relatively higher thermodynamic sta-HPLC, 4 has been isolated by column chromatography and bility at normal conditions. Seit Gewinnung der ersten heterocyclischen Bor-Dreiringverbindungen (~B U P )~B N R~ (R = iPr, Et, Ph) und (tBuP),BNR'R* (R' = Me, R2 = tBu, nBu, c-Hex, Ph)',2) erscheint die Synthese eines Cyclotriborans als losbares Problem. Wie die Untersuchungen an den Diphosphaboriranen zeigten, ist die elektronische Absittigung des Bor-Atoms durch eine exocyclische Aminogruppe entscheidend fur die Existenzfiihigkeit von borhaltigen Dreiring-Verbindungen. Allgemein werden aminosubstituierte Polyborane durch Enthalogenierung von (Dialky1amino)borhalogeniden mit Alkalimetallen hergestellt 3-5). Auf diese Weise konnten schon vor lLngerer Zeit die kettenformigen (Dimethylamino)borane B,(NMe2),+2 (n = 2-8)6' und vor zehn Jahren mit c y~l o -B~( N M e~)~ das bisher einzige vollstandig charakterisierte monocyclische Aminopolyboran erhalten werden ' ).Wir haben nun im Hinblick auf die Bildung eines Cyclotriborans die Enthalogenierung von Dichlor(diethylamino)boran untersucht, da die Et2N-Gruppe das Borgerust sterisch wirksamer abschirmt als der Me2N-Rest, so daR die kinetische Stabilitat einer cyclo-B3-Spezies erhoht werden sollte. Praparative ErgebnisseBei der Reaktion von Dichlor(diethy1amino)boran mit Kalium in siedendem Cyclohexan wird ein Gemisch von Cycloboranen B,(NEt2), (n = 3 -8 ) gebildet; daneben entstehen B(NEt,),, B(NEt2)2H, B2(NEt& und kleine Anteile von Polycycloboranen, wie B6(NEt2),, B7(NEt2),, B7(NEt2)3 und B8(NEt2)4 (MS, 'lB-NMR). Andere Losungsmittel verschieben das Produktspektrum entweder zugunsten der polycyclischen Verbindungen (Toluol) oder von Produkten der Etherspaltung (Diethylether, Tetrahydrofuran). Durch Zugabe von Bortrichlorid zum Reaktionsgemisch wird die Bildung kleiner B,-Ringe begiinstigt, die im iibrigen dem Verdunnungsprinzip gehorcht. Das Bortrichlorid diirfte dabei als Lewis-She bereits gebildete groRere B,-Ringe spalten, wahrend es bei 81 "C erst in untergeordnetem MaBe zu Polycylcoboranen reagiert. Entscheidend fur einen hohen Produktanteil an monocyclischen Boranen ist eine uberhitzung des Reaktionsgemisches zu Beginn der Umsetzung, da anderenfalls uberwiegend B(NEt2), entsteht.
