Triterpenoids with α-glucosidase inhibitory activities from the roots of Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta

Abstract: A new taraxerane-type triterpenoid, codopimodol A (1), together with two known triterpenoids (2 and 3), were isolated from the EtOH extract of the roots of Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta (Campanulaceae). The structure of the new compound was identified by high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry and extensive spectroscopic analyses, particularly one-dimensional and two-dimensional NMR and IR. All the compounds were first isolated from C. pilosula var. modesta. Compounds 1 and 3 exhibited pot… Show more

“…Li et al also proved that Xinjiang CP polysaccharides can delay human aging by increasing the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the human body. Subcutaneous injection of the water extract of CP could significantly increase the number of red blood cells and the content of hemoglobin in rabbits and increase the blood concentration [ 20 ]. When combined with compound medicine, CP can inhibit the synthesis of thromboxane B2 in plasma and counteract the phenomenon of platelet aggregation caused by coronary heart disease or angina pectoris.…”

“…Fei et al described that two aromatic compounds and a triterpene compound in CPN had α-glucosidase inhibitory activity in vitro . 23,24 However, there has not been any study to comprehensively evaluate the hypoglycemic effects of CPN based on the inhibitory activity of α-glucosidase in vitro and in vivo , and analyze and confirm the chemical ingredients of active parts of CPN for reducing PBG by employing UHPLC-Triple-TOF-MS/MS.…”
