Tunable THz-radiation in a ZnGeP2 single crystal pumped by dual-wavelength degenerate optical parametric oscillator

Abstract: A compact continuously tunable dual-wavelength source of radiation based on a diode pumped Nd:AG laser and an intracavity degenerate optical parametric oscillator (IDOPO) was demonstrated for the first time. The generation of two pulses of radiation with mutually orthogonal polarization and a wavelength difference from 0 to 500 nm is realized. The pulse energy reached ~1 mJ with a pulse duration of 10 ns at a repetition rate up to 1 kHz. Terahertz (THz) radiation was obtained using a difference frequency gener… Show more

“…Currently, the methods of dual-wavelength laser generation mainly involve combining a fixed-wavelength operating fluorescence line with nonlinear frequency conversion, 8 or utilizing two or more emission peaks in the same laser gain medium fluorescence spectrum line and employing frequency selection elements or coating technologies. 9,10 Zhou et al 11 used LD with 808 nm as the pump source and pumped a Nd 3þ ∶YAG∕YAG∕V 3þ ∶YAG∕YAG composite crystal and obtained multiwavelength laser outputs of 1319, 1328, and 1338 nm by coating the output mirror.…”
