Tuning the Luminescence of Layered Halide Perovskites

Abstract: Layered halide perovskites offer a versatile platform for manipulating light through synthetic design. Although most layered perovskites absorb strongly in the ultraviolet (UV) or near-UV region, their emission can range from the UV to the infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum. This emission can be very narrow, displaying high color purity, or it can be extremely broad, spanning the entire visible spectrum and providing high color rendition (or accurately reproducing illuminated colors). The origin o… Show more

“…Despite of their success, there remain critical gaps in chemistry and scope to removal of lead and ligand toxicity. For example, nontoxic ligand–stabilized perovskite nanocrystals are rarely demonstrated in the literature . The installation of nontoxic ligands onto the surface of the perovskite nanocrystals substrate represents a unique synthetic challenge, that if overcome could significantly expand the utility of nontoxic‐based perovskite interfaces.…”

“…Films of 1 spin‐coated from DMSO solutions onto different substrates present slightly different emission properties (see Figure and SI), a common feature in hybrid perovskite thin films . As prepared films deposited onto plasma treated quartz substrates display emissions bands peaked at about 490 nm (FWHM = 193 meV, τ av = 24.6 ns) while films deposited onto PEDOT:PSS coated substrates show narrower bands peaked at about 515 nm (FWHM = 146 meV, τ av = 84.9 ns).…”
