The aim of this study is to reveal the challenges experienced by employees in the tourism sector in Türkiye and to privede suggestions for the remediation of issus.The method of the research is a qualitative research method. Research sample includes 21 tourism employees in the Aegean Region, which is one of the important regions of the tourism sector for Türkiye. A semi-structured interview form has been used for the research. The form contains 6 open-ended questions and 5 demographic variables. Content analysis has been used in the research. According to the results, the most important challenges of employees have become evident as low wage level, long working hours, lack of social-cultural activities, lack of motivation, and insufficient accommodation opportunities in Türkiye. An important point that draws attention here is that the challenges expressed by employees indicate the dimensions of job satisfaction. At this point, it can be said that tourismsector employees have no/insufficient job satisfaction. In this respect, it may be recommended to measure the job satisfaction of tourism sector employees in future research. In order to eliminate or alleviate these challenges, wage policies can be reconsidered and wage increases can be achieved, wage policies specific to the tourism sector can be developed. Regarding the regulation of long working hours, the 4-day working week model is currently implemented in various countries of the world (such as England and Germany). Pilot applications can be made for tourism workers. In addition, social-cultural activities can be organized for employees at regular intervals. Lodgings and houses close to workplaces can be provided by employers to improve accommodation opportunities for their employees. Thus, improving the problems of employees in the tourism sector, which is an important source of income for Türkiye, will increase both the quality of life and job satisfaction of employees.

Tourism, one of the expeditiously growing and most important sectors, contributes to the national economy by increasing employment and foreign exchange income. As in many countries, the place of tourism in the country's economy is very important in T?rkiye (formerly known as Turkey). As one of the sources that have contributed significantly to the country's economy for many years, it has played a locomotive role in its development. T?rkiye is trying to increase its share of international tourism revenues with investments and incentives. Although it is a country that draws attention with its areas suitable for winter tourism, the development of winter tourism centers is very slow when some aspects are taken into account. Konya Province is one of the few religious and cultural tourism centers of T?rkiye. The region has qualified winter tourism areas. Bringing these areas to tourism can be an important resource for both the provincial and national economy. This study proposes a Geographical Information System based Multi Criteria Evaluation (MCE) model using Best Worst Method (BWM) to identify the most suitable locations for winter tourism facilities in the Konya region of T?rkiye. Among some suitable areas determined according to the results of the analysis, Alada? Mountain in Derbent region has been seen as the most suitable place for winter tourism investments, as it has all the features such as snow quality, transportation, and snowy day duration that should exist in a winter tourism center.

A New Intuition into Tourism-Inclusive Growth Nexus in Turkey and Nigeria (1995 – 2018)

This paper examines the symmetric and asymmetric causal relationships between tourism and inclusive growth in Turkey and Nigeria over the period 1995Q1-2018Q4. The study employs a bootstrap simulation method with leverage adjustments to achieve the objective of the study. The method is used to see whether positive or negative tourism shocks cause inclusive growth and whether positive or negative inclusive growth shocks cause tourism activity. The results show no evidence of asymmetric causality between tourism and inclusive growth, while there is evidence of symmetric causality running from tourism to inclusive growth in Turkey. On the other hand, there is neither symmetric nor asymmetric causal relationship between tourism and inclusive growth in Nigeria. In sum, both neutrality and tourism-led growth hypothesis hold in Turkey, while Nigeria gives credence to neutrality hypothesis. The recommendations coming from the findings are that the tourism sector in both countries, Nigeria in particular, should be repositioned for better performance and effectiveness in stimulating inclusive growth. Rather than focusing on pro-poor and micro-based tourism policies that favour selected communities and localities, tourism should be included in development plans nationally, in order to ensure wider participation and more encompassing trickle-down effects on the citizenry. Furthermore, both countries should implement policies that will stimulate their tourism sectors for a larger and more significant contribution to real GDP.
