Two Novel abeo‐Dammaranes with a Six‐Membered Acetal Moiety from Aglaia perviridisHiern

Abstract: acetate; 2), together with six known dammaranes, were isolated from the EtOH extract of the twigs of Aglaia perviridis by chromatographic methods. The structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated on the basis of spectral data.Introduction. -The genus Aglaia of the family Meliaceae has attracted considerable interest as a possible new source of unique natural products for integrated pest management. In the past decades, many novel compounds such as bis-amides, lignans, and triterpenes have been isolated from this genu… Show more

“…Some species appeared to be uniformly characterised by a single structural type, like e.g. dammaranes in the present investigation or in A. perviridis Hiern, with two novel abeo-derivatives forming a sixmembered acetal ring (Yang et al, 2008), whereas others show a combination of different types. Moreover, distinct structural types may be confined to different plant parts, as shown in A. argentea with many cycloartane derivatives in the leaves (Omobuwajo et al, 1996a), whereas apotirucallanes were isolated from the seeds and stem bark (Omobuwajo et al, 1996b).…”

“…In the last few decades, varieties of compounds, such as bisamides, lignans, triterpenes, rocaglamides, aglains and steroids have been reported from this genus (Brader et al, 1998;Fuzzati, Dyatmiko, Rahman, Achmad, & Hostettmann, 1996). With a continuous interest in the phytochemistry of Aglaia plants (Yang, Fu, Wang, Tan, & Zhu, 2008;Yang, Tan, Luo, Wang, & Zhu, 2008;Zhang et al, 2010), we undertook a chemical constituent study on the 95% ethanolic extract of the leaves of Aglaia abbreviata C.Y. Wu, which is distributed in Yunnan of China, led to the isolation of aglaianine (1), a new cinnamic acid-derived bisamide, along with 10 known compounds, dihydrophaseic acid (Zhang, Liu, Zha, & Di, 2009), patriscabratine (Ternes & Krause, 2002), (þ)-eudesmin (Latip, Hartley, & Waterman, 1999), pyramidatine (Saifah et al, 1993), 25-aglinin A and 25-aglinin A (Mohamad et al, 1999), eichlerianic acid and shoreic acid (Roux et al, 1998), 3-epi-cabraleahydroxylactone and cabraleahydroxylactone (Su et al, 2006).…”
