Two‐phase switched reluctance motor with hybrid excitation: Modeling and evaluation

Abstract: Switched reluctance machines offer a robust structure, inexpensive maintenance, and a low-cost drive. However, they can suffer from low mean torque, low torque density, and high noise. Techniques such as offering the stator poles at each phase in the shape of a C core, adding several teeth to the two poles of each C-core, and embedding permanent magnets to overcome these deficiencies are presented.
