“…However, compared to the R. kenojei, the number of I FC in the spleen of the B. aleutica (around 250 to 6001 m m ) was 5 to 10 times larger than that of the R. kenojei (around 50/mm2) [2]. The reason for the large number of IgFC in the spleen of the B. aleutica is not known, but this allowed us to examine statistically embryonal IgFC, since R. kenojei embryos had very few of them in the spleen.…”

“…One is a high molecular weight (HMW) Ig of 18S, analogous to mammalian IgM, and the other is a low molecular weight (LMW) Ig of 9 S, belonging to a hitherto undescribed class. In a subsequent report, we have demonstrated the presence of two populations of cells, producing either the HMW or the LMW Ig, that occur in the spleen, the intestinal mucosa, Leidig organ of the esophagus, the epigonal organ and the liver, but not in the thymus [ 2 ] . Among these organs, the spleen contained the highest number of Ig-forming cells (IgFC), the intestinal mucosa an intermediate number and the other organs a much lesser frequency of cells.…”

“…and Endo (1984) described the histological structure of the kidneys in Triakis scyllia, Mustelus griseus, and Raja akaei. Microscopic alterations were also described in hepatic tissue of Potamotrygon motoro (Oguri 1985), Scyliorhinus canicula (Genten et al 2009), spleen of Chlamydoselachus anguineus (Tanaka and Goto 1991) and Raja kenojei (Tomonaga et al 1984). …”
