Two-Stage Stochastic Scheduling of Integrated Electricity and Natural Gas Systems Considering Ramping Costs With Power-to-Gas Storage and Wind Power

Abstract: Power-togas (P2G) facilities and natural gas fired power units provide flexibility to integrated electricity and natural gas systems (IENGS) for wind power accommodation and ramp deployment. This paper proposes a stochastic coordinated scheduling model for IENGS considering ramping costs with P2G storage and wind power. The operation model of natural gas system with P2G is presented, and the benefits of P2G integration are analyzed. To address the uncertainties of wind power and energy loads, multiple represen… Show more

“…Molognoni et al experimentally investigated the long-term performance of such a prototype reactor integrating CO 2 capture in wastewater via membrane contactors. At the facility level, combined cycle power plants in future renewable-dominated energy systems are expected to mainly serve as flexible regulating generators, the efficiency and economics of which could be adversely affected by low capacity/load utilization (Song et al, 2020). Bailera et al investigated the use of power-to-methane under a range of combined cycle power plant start-up scenarios to virtually reduce plant minimum complaint load, hence augmenting electricity revenues and reducing specific CO 2 emissions.…”

“…Among them, hydropower plants are flexible in start-up and shut-down and low in start-up costs and are usually arranged by ISO during peak load period to ease the tension in power generation. Pumped storage plants are in the power generation state in peak load period and load state in low load period, which can reduce load peak valley difference (Fekete et al, 2019;Song et al, 2020).…”
