This research aims to identify the potential of medicinal plants in Pampang Village, Samarinda, East Kalimantan, which can be used as a source of chemistry learning at the junior and senior high school levels. This research used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects, namely 11 residents of Pampang Village, were determined using purposive sampling. Data analysis used interactive model analysis, and data validity is measured using data triangulation techniques. The results of the research show that there are 20 medicinal plants that the people of Pampang Village widely used and eight medicinal plants have the potential to be used as a source of chemistry learning. These medicinal plants were sambung nyawa, meniran, bajakah, betel, seri, turmeric, coconut, and tamarind eggplant. These plants related to materials separating mixtures, reaction rates, functional groups, lipids, acid and base indicators, electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions, acids and bases, chemical changes, and redox. Therefore, this can be used as a reference and consideration for chemistry teachers in the learning process. to help students understand chemistry lessons closely related to everyday life.

Diarrhea is a disease characterized by increased frequency of defecation and decreased stool consistency caused by impaired absorption of air and electrolytes in the intestine. Black turmeric is a plant that has properties as a traditional medicine for types of diseases, one of which is diarrhea. The aim of this study was to determine the antidiarrheal effect of black turmeric rhizome extract and the best dose of reducing defecation frequency and increasing stool consistency in diarrheal mice. This research was carried out using 40 mice that were induced by diarrhea using Ricini oleum. Mice were divided into 8 groups, the normal group without treatment, the positive control was given Loperamide HCl, the negative control was given 1% NaCMC, the test control group was given 5 variations of doses of black turmeric rhizome extract 50 mg/KgBW, 150 mg/KgBW, 250 mg/KgBW, 300 mg/KgBW, and 500 mg/KgBW. The results showed that black turmeric rhizome extract could reduce the frequency of defecation and increase stool consistency with a significant value (p<0.05). Black turmeric rhizome extract at a dose of 250 mg/KgBW is the best dose because it can reduce the frequency of defecation and increase stool consistency better than Loperamide HCl. Keywords: Antidiarrheal, Black turmeric, Oleum ricini Abstrak Diare merupakan penyakit yang ditandai dengan peningkatan frekuensi defekasi dan penurunan konsistensi feses disebabkan oleh gangguan absorpsi air dan elektrolit di dalam usus. Kunyit hitam disebut sebagai tanaman yang memiliki khasiat sebagai obat tradisional untuk berbagai jenis penyakit salah satunya diare. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efek antidiare ekstrak rimpang kunyit hitam dan dosis terbaik dalam memberikan efek penurunan frekuensi defekasi dan peningkatan konsistensi feses pada mencit diare. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan 40 ekor mencit yang diinduksi diare menggunakan oleum ricini 0,75 ml. Mencit dibagi menjadi 8 kelompok yaitu kelompok normal tanpa perlakuan, kontrol positif diberi Loperamide HCl, kontrol negatif diberi NaCMC 1%, kelompok kontrol uji diberi 5 variasi dosis ekstrak rimpang kunyit hitam 50 mg/KgBB, 150 mg/KgBB, 250 mg/KgBB, 300 mg/KgBB, dan 500 mg/KgBB. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak ekstrak rimpang kunyit hitam dapat menurunkan frekuensi defekasi dan meningkatkan konsistensi feses dengan nilai signifikasi (p<0,05). Ekstrak rimpang kunyit hitam dosis 250 mg/KgBB merupakan dosis terbaik karena dapat menurunkan frekuensi defekasi dan meningkatkan konsistensi feses dengan hasil lebih baik dari Loperamide HCl. The immune system or immunity is a system that can protect the human body against foreign objects that enter the body. People can maintain their immune system by consuming healthy and nutritious food, exercising regularly, maintaining personal health, taking supplements or immune-boosting vitamins, and consuming traditional herbs, such as juice from the phytochemical Curcuma domestica (turmeric). Curcuma domestica is a tropical plant, and it can find in many parts of Asia, one of which is Indonesia. The main components of the phytochemical Curcuma domestica are curcumin and essential oils. In contrast, the phytochemicals of curcumin and essential oils can boost the immune system because they are proven to increase lymphocyte cells. This study aimed to determine the bioactivity of phytochemicals in Curcuma domestica on the number of lymphocyte cells in mice (Mus musculus). This study was experimental research with the pre and post-test design. The sample used in this study was 32 mice divided into two groups, including control and treatment groups. Data of lymphocyte cells were analyzed using a manual method, namely peripheral blood smear. The data were analyzed using the SPSS (Statistical Program Social Science) application using the independent t-test. The results were p = 0.000 (p 0.05), so Ho was rejected, and Ha was accepted. The results obtained in the control group showed that the average number of lymphocyte cells before treatment was 42.5%, and after treatment was 47.5%. While in the treatment group, the average number of lymphocyte cells before being given the phytochemical extract of Curcuma domestica was 41.75%, and after being given the phytochemical extract of Curcuma domestica was 57.25%. The conclusion is that giving the phytochemical extract of Curcuma domestica affects the number of lymphocyte cells in mice (Mus musculus).
