Ultra‐wideband slot antenna with a stop‐band notch

Abstract: In this study, a simple and compact ultra‐wideband (UWB) printed slot antenna with band‐notch performance is designed and manufactured. To increase the impedance bandwidth of the square slot antenna, the authors use an S‐shaped parasitic structure inside the rectangular slot on the feed line. By using this structure UWB frequency range can be achieved. Additionally, by using square‐ring stub with two L‐shaped protruded strip inside the square‐ring stub, a frequency notched band performance has been obtained. T… Show more

“…Figure 4 illustrates the measured radiation patterns, including the copolarization in the H-plane (xz plane) and E-plane (yz plane). It can be seen that the radiation patterns in xz plane are nearly omnidirectional for the two frequencies [15]. Figure 5 shows the measured maximum gain of the proposed antenna for the 1.7 and 2.3 GHz frequencies.…”

“…It is better to use an antenna that provides required frequency notches instead of integrating the designed antenna with separate filter circuit to eliminate the interfering frequency bands. Several notch creation processes were proposed earlier that include insertion of slot, implanting split ring resonators (SRR), addition of electronic band gap structures, and loading diverse parasitic elements on the antenna . Creation of frequency notch band by embedding slots in the radiating element or ground plane is one the simplest and conventional method due to its simple geometry and easy fabrication.…”
