Ultra‐wideband tapered slot antenna with dual band‐notched characteristics

Abstract: A novel tapered slot antenna (TSA) with 3.5/5.5 GHz dual band‐notched characteristics for ultra‐wideband radios is proposed in this study. To realise dual band‐notched characteristics at the TSA, the author employ (a) a pair of nested C‐shaped stubs beside the feed line and (b) a broadband microstrip‐slotline transition with an Archimedean spiral‐shaped slot. The proposed antenna has been successfully simulated, implemented and measured. Measured data for the optimised case show the bandwidth for the voltage s… Show more

“…Therefore the proposed antenna is convenient for transmitting and receiving UWB pulse with a very small distortion. Figure 6 shows a comparison between the simulated and measured normalized radiation pattern results of the proposed dual band-notched UWB antenna at selected frequencies (3,5,7.5,10.5 GHz) over the operating broadband. It is obvious that the radiation patterns in the E (yz-plane) and H (xz-plane) planes are stable over the whole operating frequency range and confirm the desired beams of an omnidirectional pattern of a monopole antenna.…”

“…Natani et al, placed square split ring resonators below the slot line of the coplanar TSA to excite the resonance of the SRR for procuring dual notch functioning. A novel design of tapered slot antenna (TSA) using a pair of nested C‐shaped stubs and a broadband microstrip‐slotline transition with an Archimedean spiral‐shaped slot has been realized by Lee et al…”
