“…RSM reduces the number of experimental trials required to evaluate multiple variables and their interactions. The BoxeBehnken design (BBD) is widely used RSM (Ponmurugan et al, 2017) for optimization of spherical and revolving design; it consists of a central point and the middle points of the edges of the cube circumscribed on the sphere. It is a second order multivariate technique based on threeelevel fractional factorial design consisting of a full 2 2 factorial scattered into a balanced incomplete block design.…”

“…It is a second order multivariate technique based on threeelevel fractional factorial design consisting of a full 2 2 factorial scattered into a balanced incomplete block design. To investigate the behavior of the response surface for the response function (Y) using the secondeorder polynomial equation, a BBD is often preferred since interaction variable estimates are not completely confounded (Ponmurugan et al, 2017). The generalized response surface model is…”

“…The previously determined extraction conditions, time (30 min), temperature (30°C), dual‐frequency (20–40 kHz), ethanol concentration (29%), and (NH 4 ) 2 SO 2 (19%) were kept constant while ultrasonic power was varied (60‐300 W). The results in Figure 2e showed a maximum APS yield at 240 W with a decrease in yield beyond 240 W. The decrease in the APS yield when power exceeded 240 W could be ascribed to the exaggeration of the amplitude of the ultrasound wave thus inducing a vigorous generation of cavitation bubbles which reduces the transmission of ultrasonic energy into the cavitation field leading to a decrease in the APS yield (Ponmurugan et al, ). Therefore the optimal power of 240 W was chosen for subsequent experiments.…”

“…The effect of ethanol addition was studied in a range (21-31%). As illustrated in Figure 2d (Ponmurugan et al, 2017). Therefore the optimal power of 240 W was chosen for subsequent experiments.…”

“…Currently, ultrasound-assisted extraction has been applied to effectively extract natural components from different kinds of materials [1,2]. Compared with the conventional hot water extraction method, ultrasound-assisted extraction can enhance the extraction yield, save operation time and streamline the operation process [3].…”
