Abstract:Whole body exposure to acute doses of ionizing radiation may result in either hematopoietic or gastrointestinal form of acute radiation syndrome (hs-ARS or GI-ARS). ARS is multifactorial in nature and is the result of complex interactions which are dynamic in a spatial-temporal fashion.
