Unusual Very Strong O–H···O Hydrogen Bonding in Zinc Complex: Crystal Structure and Photoluminescence of [Zn(HL)(bpy)2(H2O)]2(L) (L = O2C(CF2)6CO2, bpy = 2,2′bipyridine)

Abstract: The centrosymmetric dimer zinc compound, [Zn(HL)(bpy) 2 (H 2 O)] 2 (L), (L = O 2 C(CF 2 ) 6 CO 2 , bpy = 2,2 0 -bipyridine), was obtained through the reaction of Zn(ClO 4 ) 2 Á6H 2 O, bpy and perfluorosuberic acid. Zn(II) centre is coordinated by four N atoms from two bpy ligands and two O atoms from a water molecule and monoanionic suberate ligand in a distorted octahedral coordination environment. The unit structure contains crystallographically centrosymmetric suberate anion which acts as a bidentate bridgi… Show more

“…The ligand bite angles of the 5-membered chelate rings are almost equal as shown by coordinating bond angles of N-Zn-N = 79.20(5)° and O-Zn-O = 79.63(4)°. Bond parameters are normal and the values fall within the range of the related coordination compounds [2,30]. Table 3 shows that the bond angles Cl1-Zn1-O31 [109.88(4)°] and Cl1-Zn1-O32 [105.28(4)°] of the oxamate chelate, as well as Cl1-Zn1-N1 [107.20(4)°] and Cl1-Zn1-N10 [101.18(4)°] of the phenanthroline moiety vary.…”
