“…The Upper Carboniferous hygrophytic mi-croflora is also present. This temporal attribution is consistent with the age provided by conodonts (Blanco-Ferrera et al, 2004;Mendez, 2006;Buggisch et al, 2008) that located the upper Moscovian-Kasimovian succession in the Las Llacerias Section Sanz-López, 2002a, 2002b;Buggisch et al, 2008). Clayton et al, 1977. Adjusted to the latest research results).…”

“…The Las Llacerias section is correlated with the Gamonedo-Cabrales depositional sequences, a correlation that has been undertaken now through the combined use of sedimentological data and fusulinoidean biostratigraphy. Attempts to characterize the Moscovian/Kasimovian boundary led to a number of publications on the fossil content of the Las Llacerias section, in which data from several paleontological groups (algae, brachiopods, conodonts, corals, foraminifers, spores) have been documented (Marquí-nez et al 1982;Villa et al 1993Coquel and Rodríguez 1994;van Ginkel and Villa 1999;Villa and van Ginkel 2000;Méndez 2002Méndez , 2006Mamet and Villa 2004). However, fusulinoideans, generally considered as bearing a great stratigraphic signiWcance, were the only previously analysed foraminifers, whereas the presence of smaller foraminifers was virtually neglected.…”

“…Several carbonate beds from this part of the Picos de Europa Formation yields Myachkovian (late Moscovian) conodonts (Figure c–j,l–q; Samples 40, 251, 254, MAZ‐4, and VZM‐7 in Table ) and foraminifers (Section VIII in Figure and Table ). Méndez () described conodonts such as Idiognathodus covadongae , Idiognathodus sp. B, and Ubinates sp.…”
