“…The same way median urinary iodine concentration found in pregnant women in the current study (89.8 μg/L) was found to be lower compared to the similar study conducted in Bangladesh (140 μg/L) (25). We have found that severity of goiter as well as need for iodine increases with the gestational period, however a study conducted in Cluj county of Romania showed no relation of gestational period with iodine status (39). Therefore, studies with larger sample size may be needed to confirm the need of iodine during gestational period.…”
