Usability testing and evaluation of a mobile software solution: A case study

Abstract: Learning through mobile devices such as PDAs, mobile phones, laptops with wireless capabilities, today is integrated within education systems to deliver electronic contents and to support real-time communications. It is used as a tool to engage learners in collaborative, communicative, constructive and supportive activities. It is unique in ensuring ubiquity and mobility in learning without time, place and technical limitations. In the research literature, a number of successful m-learning systems are reviewed… Show more

“…On the contrary, the cultural dimension factors needs to be argued, as people are not all uniform in thinking and executing their jobs and tasks. The quantitative approach in testing the application is also recommended [12]. Similarly, the qualitative research has also been conducted using 'Grounded Theory' with the 'Cultural Dimensions' model of Hofstede [5].…”

“…Hereby, the goal of this research is to compare the results of two usability testing methods aimed for e-learning and applied in m-learning and the one proposed MLUAT usability testing methodology for m-learning [2]. A similar study to e-learning applications is done by [4] for web-based e-learning applications.…”

“…It is a great challenge for the m-learning researchers and developers. Even though there are researches conducted regarding to best usability testing method for elearning applications, it still can not be applied in m-learning concerning the above mentioned arguments.Hereby, the goal of this research is to compare the results of two usability testing methods aimed for e-learning and applied in m-learning and the one proposed MLUAT usability testing methodology for m-learning [2].
