Use of Recurrent Neural Network with Long Short-Term Memory for Seepage Prediction at Tarbela Dam, KP, Pakistan

Abstract: Estimating the quantity of seepage through the foundation and body of a dam using proper health and safety monitoring is critical to the effective management of disaster risk in a reservoir downstream of the dam. In this study, a deep learning model was constructed to predict the extent of seepage through Pakistan’s Tarbela dam, the world’s second largest clay and rock dam. The dataset included hydro-climatological, geophysical, and engineering characteristics for peak-to-peak water inflows into the dam from 2… Show more

“…In the future, constructing an author evolution tree model based on a macroscopic topic can provide more generalized patterns. The use of multi-level modeling and Machine Learning algorithms can also help predict the academic activity of scholars in the next stage, which is a potential future research direction [ 46 , 63 ]. The findings in this study promote interdisciplinary collaborations to provide a broader perspective and understanding of knowledge diffusion.…”

“…Global warming, climate change, population growth, floods, and droughts all have an immediate impact on the water resources management system. The dam is an important water resource manage-ment structure that serves several functions, including irrigation system stability, power generation, and water distribution for community development (Donnelly et al, 2017;Wang et al, 2019;Ishfaque et al, 2022).…”
