Resumo:No âmbito da pós-graduação, são vários os dilemas e problemas enfrentados na investigação. A qualidade dos projetos e a relação entre orientador e orientando, têm-se revelado como alguns dos grandes desafios. São muitos os estudos que apontam o uso das TIC como um meio de ajuda no processo de investigação e na produção dos resultados com qualidade. Apresentamos neste artigo a percepção de orientadores e orientados que utilizaram o software online IARS ® como uma ferramenta de apoio na elaboração e gestão do projeto de investigação. Este estudo é de cariz exploratório de análise descritiva com apoio do SPSS. Os resultados atestam uma percepção positiva e rica acerca da utilização do software recentemente divulgado. Assim, consideraram o IARS ® de fácil utilização, agradável, flexível, estimulador, claro e de fácil compreensão em temos organizacionais. Apontam também para as dificuldades nas etapas de construção do projeto e comunicação entre os investigadores, e reconhecem como o sistema pode ser útil neste âmbito. The quality of the projects and the relationship between supervisor and research student have been shown to be major challenges. There are many studies that show the use of ICT as a means to help in the research process and the production of quality results. We present here the perception of supervisors and research students who used the online software IARS ® as a support tool in the development and management of the research project. This study is of exploratory nature and of descriptive analysis with the support of SPSS. The results show a positive and rich perception on using this recently released software. Thus they considered IARS® user-friendly, nice, flexible, stimulating, clear and easy to understand in organizational terms. Thesis supervision is an important activity in higher education with Bachelor's and Master's theses mandatory parts of university programmes. In traditional education, thesis supervision has been a face-to-face activity, but today, both the student groups and the learning environments are blended. This study describes and discusses the design and implementation of a blended learning environment for a student group at Mid Sweden University. The research question that the study aims to answer is: Which are the important factors in the design of a course for undergraduate students, to facilitate supervision of thesis projects in a technology enhanced environment?This study employed a Design science research strategy with three phases for design, implementation and evaluation of a blended learning environment during thesis supervision. For the first phase, design requirements were specified based on document studies and a literature review. In the second phase (first part), the created design requirements were implemented as an instance in the Moodle virtual learning environment. Second phase (second part), the implemented instance was used as the online part of a blended learning course for students writing their Bachelor's thesis. In the third phase an evaluation was carried out with an online questionnaire were students gave their opinions on course design and teaching and learning sessions.Findings show that the learning outcomes were good and that the course aim and the learning objectives were clearly stated. Found important factors for a successful supervision were peer collaboration, multimodality, and technology enhanced interaction. Remaining challenges are to improve course content and to motivate students for research in the field of Informatics. Most surprising positive finding was that peer situation occurred informally, which deepen their knowledge for thesis writing and presentation.

Abstract-This article focuses on how to empower the initiation stage in the thesis supervision process with information and communication technology. Starting a large number of theses with available resources based on creative ideas is a challenging task. Another challenge is to connect student's theses with industry's interests. The SciPro ICT support system for thesis supervision was developed over a five-year period. The most important task in the thesis initiation stage is matching students, supervisors, and ideas. Business partners and administrative staff are other stakeholders who should interact in this process. Although the choice of an idea is the responsibility of students, and seems simple, it in fact requires a series of academic and administrative support processes. There is a lack of IT systems specifically address thesis supervision, especially the initiation stage. The SciPro system was constructed to bridge this gap. The initiation stage is the foundation of a quality thesis, and it highly affects the quality of a thesis. The research approach was based on a design science method. Prototyping, testing, demonstrations, and user evaluations were conducted throughout. Data collection methods for user evaluations included interviews, observations, focus-group discussions, and log data. This paper presents the SciPro IT system, which was developed to support the start of quality theses. This system adds value, saves time and increases the quality of the thesis initiation stage. The process implemented rewards supervisors and students by providing a high degree of freedom, control, and selection of relevant topics. It enables both automatic processes for previously timeconsuming work and qualified manual operations which can be controlled by administrators according to their needs. SciPro can also be used to improve industry-university collaboration on thesis production.
