“…For example, while the visibility of sample points is determined using software (a view-sphere) in [4], the OpenGL and stencil buffering is used for the same task in [3]. The use of texture mapping to remove radial distortion from camera images has been proposed in [18] (and is also used here). However, most early examples use the graphics system for some sort of graphical task, whereas now the advent of programmable pixel and vertex shaders (along with the massive bandwidth of graphics processors) has generated interest in the using GPUs for general-purpose computation.…”

“…In our framework, predistortion method based on texture mapping [9] is used. After the augmented images are rendered to offscreen buffer, each pixel in the offscreen buffer was warped using a distortion map computed in advance; this warping was similar to that for stereo image rectification.…”

“…A video see-through display has the problem of image distortion and chromatic aberration due to the lenses inside the display. Although geometric distortion can be handled by a predistortion of images [9], it is still being studied in order to learn more effective and efficient ways to generate fine-quality images. For example, Pohl et al [10] proposed an improved predistortion method that corrects chromatic aberration.…”

“…In view of the fact that the other device used was a computer monitor, the HMD was used in monoscopic mode. The wide angle lens optical distortion of the V8 HMD was corrected using a technique proposed by Watson and Hodges (1995).…”
