Using ‘The Third Approximation of the Yield Law’ for the determination of maximum yield and nitrogen fertilization of winter wheat

Abstract: The mineral nitrogen (N) rate for wheat was determined in the IOSDV experiments at Jable and Raki can (Slovenia) in management systems with straw and farmyard manure considering 'The Third Approximation of the Yield Law', which enabled us to estimate the maximum yield, N rate for maximum yield and the N balance. At Raki can, mineral N rate for the maximum yield of wheat in the system with manure amounts to 40 -80 kg ha 71 N, fertilized in one to two side-dressings, when crops in the rotation 'maize-wheat-barle… Show more

“…Adequate plant nutrition, especially nitrogen sufficiency, is a major preoccupation in agronomy due to the influence of nitrogen (N) on crop quantity or quality (Szentpétery et al, 2005;Berzsenyi & Lap, 2005;Tanács et al, 2005;Staugaitis et al, 2007;Rühlmann, 2006;Tajnsek et al, 2005;Hoffmann et al, 2006a). Since the N storage capacity of the soil is limited and fertilizers are expensive, N fertilizers should be applied precisely.…”
