Utility of albicans ID plate for rapid identification of Candida albicans in clinical samples

Abstract: Albicans ID (bioMérieux, Marcy l'Etoile, France) is a ready-to-use medium that contains a chromogenic substrate that allows rapid detection and specific identification of Candida albicans. We have evaluated its clinical performance by culturing 846 clinical specimens from pregnant women and neonates. A 99.2% sensitivity and a 100% specificity were observed in the identification of C. albicans isolates from primary culture.
