Show more

“… 28 In Schmillevitch’s study, RI above 0.69 had a sensitivity of 84% and a specificity of 88% in predicting malignancy. 29 The difference between cut-off points and sensitivity and specificity in different studies can be due to the type of tumor behavior, grade, and subtype of malignancy based on pathology, which can affect the pattern of vascularity. 21 Further studies can be performed by pathologic subtypes and grade.…”

“…Considering this method applicability, it may be adapted to run with other image acquisition techniques such as elastography, for example, since the image texture parameter tends to change under compression of the area of interest (28) . Additionally, the present texture parameters may be combined with further quantitative parameters which represent other characteristics of lesions such as shape and contour (29) , or even the vascular resistance index obtained by means of Doppler ultrasound (30) .…”

“…Category 4 has been subdivided into 4A, 4B and 4C. All the categories must reflect the radiologist's level of suspicion for malignancy and correspond exactly to the possibility of malignancy confirmed by subsequent studies such as plain mammography, mammography with supplementary views, ultrasonography with or without Doppler, and magnetic resonance imaging (4,6,7) .…”
